Meetings/Events

Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. We; meet in the Grossman Room of the Lompoc Public Library located on the corner of North Avenue and D Street. The; building is handicapped accessible. The; Society invites the participation of all who are interested in orchids, from beginning hobbyists to professional growers. Here; you can learn some of the helpful techniques for raising, grooming, and displaying these plants. Society; meetings feature programs by orchid experts from across the country and around the world.

Members attending meetings are able to check out past meeting videos from the Society's video library; and take home free culture information from the Society’s library table and bring or see flowering orchids from collections of local members and commercial growers and display them on the "Show Table".

Members also have the opportunity to obtain orchid plants inexpensively from some guest speakers and the Society’s Blind Auction and Opportunity Tables. In addition to monthly meetings, the Society currently participates with orchid displays in three orchid shows a year. During; the year, the Society also takes field trips to various growers in the area, hosts several barbecues a year with other societies, and during December, we hold our Annual Christmas Potluck Dinner. We; hope to see you at one of our future meetings!

Santa Barbara International Orchid Fair
THeld annually under festive, open-air canopies at Earl Warren Showgrounds, drawing orchid growers from around the world, bringing their plants for purchase and sharing their orchid expertise.   You won’t want to miss this special event hosted by Santa Barbara Orchid Estate.   David Du Puy will be the featured guest, promoting his new edition of The Genus Cymbidium.

July 27, 2008 CVOS Annual Barbecue Sunday
This year’s event will be held either at Eileen Whitty’s home or the home of Van and Pam Bivans.   The feast begins at NOON sharp!   Members are asked to provide side dish (last name begins with A – O) or desserts (last name begins with P – Z).
